Just kidding. We don't know. Remember? We're not finding out this time! Most of you probably don't care but I thought that'd be a fun little joke for some of our close family and friends who wish we'd find out ;) We did have the ultrasound though. It's just as fun with each baby. Maybe more so each time. For a variety of reasons, I felt incredibly relieved and grateful to see a healthy baby moving around on that screen with all his or her parts! The tech did a regular ultrasound … [Read more...] about It’s A…..
When we were pregnant with our first, I was fortunate enough to be doubly insured by my job and being on my parents' health insurance still (because I was 25). I called both companies and basically said, "hey I'm pregnant, and I don't even know what to ask you." I literally knew NOTHING about health insurance. Couldn't have even differentiated between deductible and copay. Didn't know what an out of pocket max was. Since then, we've had a few different job changes, including a period where … [Read more...] about Questions to Ask Your Health Insurance Provider During Pregnancy
When you have littles, a trip to the doctor with a cup of coffee & no kids counts a break! Even if they're running behind and the appointment is an hour long and they need to draw blood and get a urine sample and want to ask routine questions about family history for 40 minutes. Who cares!? Not this momma-to-be-again. My kids are at a friend's house (thanks, friend!), I'm drinking coffee... Take all the time you want, doc. After the nurse drew blood, weighed me (up 6 pounds... french … [Read more...] about Heartbeats, Emotions and The Best Maternity Leggings!
Addie will be 3 in December. She's had a lot of baby questions since we told her we were pregnant. When I got pregnant with Emma, Addie was 8 months old. When Emma was born, Addie was 17 months and could barely say the word "baby." It's pretty fun to be enjoying the anticipation with her. Conversations with Addie (almost 3) from October & November, 2015. A: Did our baby come back in to your tummy Me: What do you mean? A: Well, did it come back from Jesus...? Me: No this is a … [Read more...] about Baby Questions: 1st Edition
You may or may not have noticed that for a while my blogging went like this: and then sometime in early October, it went more like this: well, that's because of this: As you can see, Addie is pumped and Emma thinks she's excited, but she has some hesitations. Ben & I are beyond grateful for the newest addition to our family, due on June 4 (Emma's second birthday). :) I've tried several times to eloquently write out all my thoughts about being pregnant after a … [Read more...] about Cook… Party of 5
Disclaimer: There's a tiny bit of female-talk in here... fertility cycles, periods, and what not. It's not the point, but it's mentioned. If those words in this disclaimer bother you, you should probably skip this post. I recently shared about our August miscarriage. But I didn’t share that the month before, we had a false positive, or something like that. I wrote this post right after this happened, but decided not to share it. Then, a month later, we miscarried and I ended up sharing … [Read more...] about Embarrassed by a False Positive
I am torn between a million thoughts and speechlessness. Between not wanting to talk about it and wanting people to know. I feel both simultaneously. It's weird. Clearly I'm opting for the latter... For better or worse, I tend to wear my emotions on my sleeve, and it'd be hard for me to carry on blogging about "real mom life" or post a picture of my smiley children if I didn't let you in on our past week. We had a miscarriage. We found out we were pregnant with baby number 3 on July 25, … [Read more...] about Miscarriage: Our Story

Oh, hello third trimester.I am 28 weeks today. Phew. Just these last few days, the extent to which I 'feel' pregnant has really stepped it up a notch. Anyway, I thought it'd be fun to record what this pregnancy has been like so far. (Wait, you weren't wondering? Feel free to just 'x' right out of this post.) But I'm often trying to remember what I experienced while pregnant with Addie-girl compared to this time around... and if I'm ever 28 weeks pregnant again, I think it might be fun to look … [Read more...] about 28 weeks
In case you hadn't noticed, I'd been on a bit of a baking kick. Well, that's fine and dandy if I'm bringing the tray of sugar cookie bars somewhere else. But if the sweet treat is staying at my house, as in the infamous case of the banana chocolate chip coffee cake, it becomes dangerous business. On one hand, I exercise regularly... on the other hand, 3 pieces of coffee cake a day is just bad for you no matter how much you drag your preggo self to the gym. Sugar is kind … [Read more...] about sugar resolution fail
